Waterco Micron ECO Media Filter

Waterco Micron ECO Media Filter

At 1 Pool Care, we’re proud to offer superior-quality Waterco Micron ECO Media Filters that use innovative fibreglass-winding technology to deliver superior, in-depth filtration. The Micron range of filters from Waterco Limited is ideal for industrial usage, such as commercial swimming pools and aquatic parks.

Starting in 1981 as a single pool pump shop in Sydney, the manufacturer, Waterco Limited, has transformed into a renowned global brand.

Every environmentally friendly Micron ECO Media Filter comprises an inner shell of fibreglass strengthened by a series of fibreglass filament layers. The “fishtail” laterals provide more effective backwashing to help you save up to 30% wastewater. You can get a top-mount or side-mount multiport valve.

How the Waterco Micron ECO Filter Collects Dirt

The primary function of our Waterco Micron ECO Filter Media models is their depth filtration as dirt travels through the filter bed, which can use either Glass Pearls or diatomaceous earth as filter media.

The dirt gets trapped in tiny spaces between the filter media particles, allowing cleansed water to travel through the fishtail laterals and exit through its filter’s multiport valve.

Features

If desired, Perth pool owners can choose to use Glass Pearls. This filter medium offers filtration capabilities similar to DE. The Glass Pearls media bed filters out substances bigger than three microns, giving you excellent quality water. Glass Pearls are chemically safe and easy to use, and their small size allows for powerful filtration. The beads' spherical shapes mean less friction, resulting in far less water usage than sand filter media. However, this method still requires occasional backwashing, and Glass Pearls cost more than Zeolite or sand filter media.
Diatomaceous earth (DE) can trap anything bigger than two microns. DE is the fossilized remains of hard-shelled algae. Each grain contains various microscopic holes, which allow the media to collect even the smallest particles. When you choose a media bed coated with diatomaceous earth, you can strain algae, dirt, dust, and even some forms of bacteria. When used on large surfaces, DE requires less maintenance However, DE filters need backwashing (though not as often as sand filters), and you must replace the DE every time you backwash it, which is time-consuming.
